This infuriates me and the fact that other conservatives are not as angry as me, infuriates me even more. We are up against a socialistic, cult like, hive mind by the slimiest of margins, we don’t have the time or numbers for party infighting. One wrong move and the Democrats again have unfettered power in congress. People worked on your campaigns, got out to vote, fought for you and this is how you repay them?
I could care less who is speaker of the house, as long as they are conservative. Please come to a unanimous agreement and move forward. People in this county are financially suffering; we want to know the origins of Covid and have a secure boarder, please put aside your minor difference and help us.
I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I partially agree with Biden’s comments. At least I know what day of the week it is BUT it is a “little embarrassing” and they do need to get their act together.
Direct Quotes:
The drama capped another contentious day in which Republican Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) again failed three times to get the necessary 218 votes to take the speaker’s gavel. A group of McCarthy allies and a group of hard-right holdouts, who have now six times voted against McCarthy, huddled for hours in a Capitol office after an earlier adjournment to continue negotiations.
Trump placed his thumb on the scale early Wednesday, posting on social media an all-caps-heavy message urging McCarthy holdouts to give him a chance.
“Some really good conversations took place last night, and it’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “REPUBLICANS, DO NOT TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT. IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE, YOU DESERVE IT. Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB — JUST WATCH!”
Through six rounds of voting over the two days, all 212 Democrats voted for Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) for House speaker. On the first day of the GOP standoff, Democrats seemed at first to relish the debacle on the other side of the aisle, joking about bringing popcorn onto the House floor and openly laughing at endorsements of McCarthy.
Asked about the speaker fight Wednesday, President Biden said it was not his problem.
“I just think it’s a little embarrassing that it’s taking so long,” Biden told reporters before departing for a trip to Kentucky. “And the rest of the world is looking. They’re looking at, you know, we need to get our act together ... What I focus on is getting things done.”
