MAPs (Minor Attracted Persons) is going to be the next sexual thing this world tries to normalize. I know this Snopes article rates the flag portion of this claim false but they appear to accept and USE MAP as a politically correct term for pedophilias. They never once attempt to express disapproval of pedophilias. They even go above and beyond to separate them from the LGBTQ community and quote a study, where abused children were surveyed and reported that 82% of offenders were heterosexual. According to this article it looks like the only other options for the survey was Gay or Lesbian. Which, from my limited understanding, does not encompass the entire LGBTQ community.
This article makes a claim that “fear-mongering campaigns over the years have attempted to link pedophilias to the LGBTQ community”. I want to be 100% clear here! I am not trying to associate these people with the LGBTQ community. I do believe that radical progressives over the next 10 years will attempt to normalize these individuals and attempt to give them a safe and welcoming place. The use of the term MAP is the first step.

The term minor is defined as anyone under the age of 18. Therefore, someone attracted to a 14 year old is actually called an ephebephile not a pedophile. Someone attracted to a 13 year old is called a hebephile. Pedophiles are attracted to 6-12 year old children; not teens. Hence why we accurately use the term “Minor Attracted Person” when we discuss providing treatment to men and women with attractions to various ages of minors. We are not trying to “soften the term” or “rebrand” pedophilia to fit in with certain groups. We treat individuals who are attracted to various ages of minors, thus it is accurate to use the term “minor attracted person.”
An especially pernicious myth is that most adults who sexually abuse children are gay. A number of researchers have looked at this question to determine if homosexuals are more likely to be pedophiles than heterosexuals, and the data indicate that’s not the case.
For example, in a 1989 study led by Kurt Freund of the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry in Canada, scientists showed pictures of children to adult gay and straight males, and measured sexual arousal. Homosexual men reacted no more strongly to pictures of male children than heterosexual men reacted to pictures of female children.
