Guess my anti gun, anti police and anti prison Liberal Larrys and Lindas missed this story. The video of this is very horrifying. Similar to George Floyd I could only bring myself to watch it once. I WILL remain consistent on this matter. This police officer should be considered innocent until proven guilty and deserves a fair and speedy trial in front of a jury of his peers.
It interesting when a white police officer shoots a 61 year old white man in a wheelchair in the back nine times….not a single Walgreens or CVS is looted and then burned to the ground. No blocks or sections of cities are labeled as autonomous zones and this officer was never ever once labeled a raciest or
Maybe Richard Lee Richards did not die from the nine bullets in his back and side. Maybe it was from covid?
The non-reaction to this story and stories like it, continuously prove that it’s really not about police brutality, prisons, guns or race. Rittenhouse shot three white men but was called a raciest because they were allies of BLM. It’s very political and depends on the area and only if victims might be part of the woke Democratic Party. I also think it might be how public or what the media finds important.
Direct Quotes:
The police department began the process of firing Remington the day after he opened fire on November 29 on a shoplifting suspect accused of pulling a knife when confronted outside a Walmart.
Video released by the Tucson Police Department showed Remington several steps behind the man in the wheelchair, identified by police as 61-year-old Richard Lee Richards. The officer asked Richards to stop before firing nine rounds -- striking him in the back and side -- as the man headed into another store, according to police.
Richards had been accused of stealing a toolbox from Walmart when an employee contacted an off-duty Tucson police officer who was working a special duty assignment at the store, according to a statement at the time from Magnus.
"According to the employee, he caught up with Mr. Richards outside as he fled the store and asked to see a receipt for the toolbox. Instead of providing the receipt, Mr. Richards brandished a knife and said, 'Here's your receipt.'"
"According to the Walmart employee, Mr. Richards said, 'If you want me to put down the knife, you're going to have to shoot me.'"
The video shows Richards beginning to enter the Lowe's when Remington tells him, "Do not go into the store, sir." Seconds later, the officer begins shooting Richards, who slumps over and falls out of his chair and onto the ground. Remington fired nine rounds, according to Magnus.
A clip of Lowe's security camera footage shows Richards lying on the ground immediately after being shot, as the officer appears to be pulling his hands behind his back to handcuff him.
Remington was the only officer that discharged his weapon, according to Magnus.
Medical care was called to the scene "but a short time later Mr. Richards was declared dead," he said.
