NBC and the Democratic Party believe middle class American’s should pay more taxes, not less. Being a middle class American some months living paycheck to paycheck and bringing in a less than the “median” income referenced in this article, someone making 6 figures is rich! BUT promising you’re not going to raise taxes on people making less than $400,000 then hire thousands of additional IRS agents, publishing articles like this and raising taxes on them….seems a little untruthful.

I highly disagree with the 529 college saving plans being for the “affluent families” and “those at the top of the income distribution”, at least the Maryland 529 plan is not. We started one for my son when he was first born, every birthday and Christmas money he has gotten from family and friends we have put in there hoping that it might pay for his first year of college. If Democrats and parents saved and attempted to invest in their child’s future maybe we wouldn’t have to eliminate student debit loans.

I call this the “Me? I’m Not Rich!” problem. The more money people get, the more they think they would need to get in order to quality as “rich.” That is why “tax the rich” rhetoric from the left (and occasionally the right) currently fails; nobody thinks the increases should include them.
