Yet another article showing Ginsburg’s thoughts on abortion. They are very interesting. She really wanted abortion to be a woman’s right and have little to do with privacy. She actually believed Roe V. Wade did not help woman with equality but turned it into “tall doctor and the little woman who needs him”.
Ginsburg was also quoted that one thing that “distinguishes women from men is that only women become pregnant”. That is not really politically correct of her. As I’ve talked about before this is more proof of how radical and progressive the Democratic Party have become since 2018.
Direct Quotes
“It is essential to woman’s equality with man that she be the decisionmaker, that her choice be controlling,” Ginsburg told Senators during her four days of questioning by the Senate Judiciary Committee. “If you impose restraints that impede her choice, you are disadvantaging her because of her sex.”
So it might come as a surprise that, though she made history by endorsing abortion rights during her confirmation hearing, Ginsburg had well-known reservations about Roe.
Ginsburg said that she believed it would have been easier for the public to understand why the Constitution protected abortion rights if it the matter had been framed as one of equal protection rather than privacy.
The main emphasis was on her equality as a woman vis-à-vis a man who was equally responsible for the conception, and on her personal choice, which the Government said she could not have unless she gave up her career in the service.
It was always recognition that one thing that conspicuously distinguishes women from men is that only women become pregnant;
